Catherine Mary Stewart falls into the "You'd know her when you'd see her" category when it comes to the degree of her celebrity. But nevertheless, Catherine has been on the movie scene for quite some time and has made a name among her peers as well as her growing fanbase.
Born in Canada, Catherine along with her two brothers are the prodigy of academic parents. Her mother was a physiologist, and her father was a renowned marine biologist from the University of Alberta. But following in her parents' footsteps was not the journey Catherine was to take. At the age of seven she took up dance and this love continued to grow into a professional career, eventually allowing her to tour Canada, the Middle East and Germany with the Synergy Dance Company. A stint at the London Studio Center followed after high school graduation, and in 1980 she got the lead role in the musical The Apple. Something clicked, and Catherine made the leap to Hollywood with goals of continuing her acting career.
Like most hopefuls, Hollywood soon lost its luster and within a year Catherine found herself broke. But as hard work and a bit of luck would have it, she finally got her Green Card and was soon cast in the daytime drama, Days Of Our Lives. This was followed by a co-starring role in The Last Starfighter and the lead in the cult zombie flick Night of the Comet. From that time on she worked steady in both movies and television, until she took time off to raise her children, daughter Hanna Mary and son Connor. Now that they are older, Catherine has returned to acting, starring in The Girl Next Door and The Attic.
