Denise Richards grew up with her younger sister in a middle-class suburb of Chicago. She attended Pierce Downer Elementary School and Herrick Middle School. During this time, she developped a modeling career, appearing from Tokyo to New York. But her height of 5' 6" was against her, making it impossible for her to reach Super Model status. So when her parents moved the family to San Diego, California, Denise saw it as an opportunity to change her career focus and began attending acting classes.
      Upon graduating from El Camino High in 1989, she moved to Los Angeles and before long she was landing small roles in shows like Doogie Howser, M.D. and Saved By The Bell. Her film debut was in Loaded Weapon 1, then dropping back into television work and a couple of low budget features, she blasted onto the scene in the mega sci-fi hit, Starship Troopers.
