KATHLEEN QUINLAN
19 November 1954
Pasadena, California
Kathleen Quinlan is the only child of Robert and Josephine Quinlan. She grew up in Mill Valley,
California, and got her break in acting when George Lucas came to her high school to cast for
his movie "American Graffiti".
She earned critical acclaim for her performance as a troubled teen in "I Never Promised You A
Rose Garden." After portraying Jim Morrison's girlfriend in Oliver Stone's "The Doors," and a
contract killer in "Trial by Jury," Quinlan was cast in Ron Howard's "Apollo 13." Her heartfelt
portrayal of Marilyn Lovell garnered her both Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations as Best
Supporting Actress.
On stage, Quinlan has appeared in "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" at the Ahmanson Theater in Los
Angeles, the Joseph Papp Public Theater's production of "Taken in Marriage," which earned her a
Theater World Award in 1978, as well as the Los Angeles Stage Company's production of "Uncommon
Women and Others."
In 2000 she got her own television series playing a lawyer on "Family Law". Interestingly, her
contract stipulated that she did not have to work later than 6 pm, so she could be at home with
her husband, son Tyler, and step-son Dalton.
