JULIA ORMOND
4 January 1965
Epsom, Surrey, England
Julia Ormond's dad, a businessman and her mother, a laboratory technician, divorced when Julia was a child. She attended Cranleigh Public School, and Julia herself admits to being a tomboy. She loved playing field hockey, and acted in several school plays including a production of
Guys and Dolls. In the beginning, Julia wanted to follow in her grandparents' footsteps
and become an abstract artist. But after only one year of Art school, she opted for pursuing
a career in the Dramatic Arts. She majored in Acting and in 1988 graduated from the
Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.
Julia was first cast in TV ads which were soon followed by a
succession of British plays, until she netted the title role of Catherine in the television mini series, Young Catherine.
She hit the American scene with her role in First Knight opposite Sean Connery and Richard Gere. This part was quickly followed by Sabrina, in which she played the object of Harrison Ford's affections.
