CATHY MORIARTY
29 November 1960
The Bronx, New York
Cathy Moriarty made her feature film acting debut at the age of seventeen in Martin Scorsese’s
Raging Bull opposite Robert DeNiro, a role which garnered her a BAFTA nomination, two Golden Globe nominations and ultimately a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award nomination.
A native New Yorker, Moriarty was born in the Bronx, raised in Westchester, and graduated early
from high school and immediately began her acting career. After Raging Bull, Cathy went on to star in a plethora of films including work in television, co-starring in 1995 with Andrew
Dice Clay in CBS’s Bless This House, then went on to receive an Ace Award for her role in an episode of HBO’s Tales From the Crypt.
Cathy owns a restaurant, called Mulberry Street, a modest little pizzeria in Beverly Hills,
just one block west of Rodeo Drive. Interestingly, Moriarty not only owns the joint, she also
works there. It's a venture she knows she can always fall back on in the event Hollywood looses
interest.
In 1999 she married Joseph Gentile with whom she has three children, twins Catherine Patricia and Joseph John, born September 2000, and Annabelle Rose, born November 15, 2001.
