One of six children, Laura Innes was raised in Birmingham, Mich. In her early years she remembers her father taking the family to the famous Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, where she got her first taste of professional theater. She decided to follow her father's advice to "do what you love", so after graduating from high school, Laura attended Northwestern University where she earned a degree in theater. Chicago theater followed, including a role at the renowned Goodman Theater, playing opposite John Malkovich in A Streetcar Named Desire. She continued working in Chicago for four years, eventually heading off to New York City.
      She is best known for her role on the television series ER, in which she plays the part of Dr. Kerry Weaver. But audiences saw another side of Laura's acting skills in the 1998 hit Deep Impact.
      Laura is married to David Brisbin. They have two children, Cal [12] and Mia.
