JAMI GERTZ
October 28, 1965
Chicago, Illinois
Jami Gertz was born to Walter and Sharyn Gertz. She attended Maine East High School in Park
Ridge, IL, then upon graduation, received her professional training at New York University,
where she majored in drama. Jami moved to Los Angeles to work on the coming-of-age television
series Square Pegs and was soon cast for the leading role in the film Alphabet City.
Throughout her career, this brown-eyed beauty has successfully alternated between film,
television and theater roles. She made her Los Angeles stage debut in Out of Gas on Lover's Leap with
Jason Patric, followed by a role opposite Tyne Daly in the Los Angeles Theater Center production
of Come Back, Little Sheba. She starred in the Off-Broadway production of Wrong Turn
at Lungfish with George C. Scott and Tony Danza.
Although work continued steady, Jami's presence in the Hollywood spotlight became somewhat
sporadic until she landed the part of Bill Paxton's girlfriend in the 1996 hit, Twister.
She lives with her stock investor husband, Tony Ressler, in Los Angeles with their two children,
Oliver (1992) and Nicholas (1995).
