Jodie Foster’s first public appearance was in a Coppertone commercial at the age of three. From there, she went on to appear in a variety of television series. It was her unique ability to memorize scripts, accompanied by a businesslike attitude, that ensured her a steady income.
Jodie’s career blossomed after a score of Disney movies. Beginning with the dark, Martin Scorsese directed Taxi Driver, in which she played the role of a street hooker. This role went on to earn her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 12.
Voted one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful in 1992, Jodie completed her education at Yale University in 1980. Before Yale she had been educated at Lycee Francais de Los Angeles, a multi-lingual school. It was there that Jodie learned to speak flawless French.
On completing her studies at Yale, a score of films followed eventually leading her into the role of Sarah Tobias in the highly acclaimed, The Accused. It was this role which she won her her first Oscar Award in the category of Best Actress. She went on to win another Oscar for The Silence Of The Lambs, and gained an additional Oscar nominated for her role in the feature film, Nell.
Jodie has two sons, Charles and Kit. They live in Los Angeles.
