CAMERON DIAZ
August 30, 1972
San Diego, California
Daughter of a Cuban-American father and German-American mother, Cameron Diaz happened to be at the right
place at the right time when at a Hollywood party she met a photographer who helped land her a
modeling contract with Elite Modeling Agency. Soon after, Diaz convinced her
parents into allowing her to expand her career into Japan at the tender age of 16.
In the next five years she traveled from Australia, Morocco, Paris, and Mexico before
settling in Hollywood.
At a suggestion from her agent, Cameron went from modeling into acting. And after only twelve auditions, she landed a small role in the Jim Carrey film, "The Mask." From there she got the chance at a role in "Mortal Kombat"
but circumstances sent Cameron down a different road when after injuring her wrist karate-chopping
her trainer, she was unable to take the part. Instead she returned to some high-paying modeling
jobs and found smaller, low-paying roles in independent films.
It was 1998's "There's Something About Mary," which made Cameron Diaz a household name, and turned her into one the most sought after actresses in Hollywood.
