GEENA DAVIS
January 21, 1957
Wareham, Massachusetts
On graduating from high school Geena Davis entered New England College in New Hampshire, and about a year later transferred to Boston University where she persued her childhood dream of becoming an actress by majoring in Drama. And in 1979 Davis moved to New York to begin her career.
It was slow going at first but eventually Geena was signed by the Zoli Agency and found herself modeling in the Victoria Secret's Catalogue.
Good looks and luck were on her side when Sydney Pollack spotted her in a catalogue, and decided to cast her in his 1982 comedy hit, Tootsie, starring opposite Dustin Hoffman and Jessica Lange. With a number of good reviews tucked under her arm and renewed confidence, Geena made the move to L.A. where she soon snagged the part of Wendy in the shortlived television series Buffalo Bill. After a second failed TV series, she made the move back into feature films, working
towards her Oscar winning performance for her role in The Accidental Tourist.
