Fanny Ardant is the daughter of a cavalry officer, and grew up in Monaco. Her family knew the Royal household, and Fanny often had the opportunity to associate with former actress, Princess Grace.
At the age of 17 Fanny moved to Aix-en-Provence to study political science. She later studied drama under Jean Périmony, and made her stage début in Corneille's Polyeucte in 1974. She later achieved wider recognition in Nina Companeez' 1979 TV drama Les dames de la côte.
Fanny loves classical music and literature and has three daughters: Joséphine (from her relationship with François Truffaut), Lumir and Baladine.
