It was during her high school years that Gillian Anderson [Gillian Leigh Anderson] become interested in acting and joined an amateur acting group. After high school she moved forward in her career by attending the National Theatre of Great Britain at Cornell University in New York, and later the Goodman Theatre School of the DePaul University in Chicago, where she also finished her education.
Her film career started in 1992 with the movie The Turning, and from there she moved into the hit television show The X-Files playing the part of Special Agent Dana Scully. Her work in this role went on to win her numerous awards.
