KEANU REEVES
September 2, 1964
Beirut, Lebanon
Keanu Reeves's parents divorced when Keanu and his sister were just toddlers. His father moved to
Hawaii and his mom took Keanu and his sister to New York. There his mother married director
Paul Aaron who moved them to Toronto, where they took up Canadian citizenship, which Keanu
still retains. Two partners later and another divorce for his mother, Keanu had another sister
and found himself once again without a father figure in his life.
Keanu Reeves attended Jesse Ketchum Public School in Toronto from kindergarten
through the eighth grade, and attended four high schools including the Toronto School for the Performing Arts, before dropping out completely
at the age of seventeen. Odd jobs followed, but his thespian side stuck with him and it didn't
take long for Keanu to get peoples attention when he got his first acting job in the homoerotic
play "Wolfboy" in 1984. This soon lead to a part in the film "Youngblood", a role which
allowed Keanu to combine his two first loves: hockey and drama. In 1986 Keanu Reeves found himself
on the road in his old Volvo heading to Hollywood with 3,000 dollars and his stepfather Paul
Aaron's address in his pocket.
Keanu went on to land parts in such films as "Dangerous Liaisons", "Bram Stoker's Dracula",
"Much Ado About Nothing", and "Little Buddha", but it was the action packed "Speed" in 1994,
that shot Reeves' career into overdrive.
Keanu Reeves's performing abilites don't end with acting. A self-taught bass player, he also
heads up the band DOGSTAR, and can often be found on the touring circuit.
