MATT DAMON
October 8, 1970
Cambridge, Massachusetts
Matt Damon's parents divorced when he was a mere two years old, leaving him and his older brother Kyle, now a sculptor, in a single parent household. Growing up in Cambridge, Matt attended Cambridge Ridge High School, and at sixteen he and close friend and neighbor, Ben Affleck, both decided to pursue careers in acting.
Like so many fledging actors, Matt first found himself doing commercials, until finally
breaking into film with a one-line part in the Julia Roberts vehicle Mystic Pizza in 1988. Numerous movies followed but it was his role as a Gulf War vet-turned-heroin addict in Courage Under Fire that proved to Hollywood that Matt was serious about his craft. That film was followed by Chasing Amy and The Rainmaker, but he hit gold when he won an Academy Award for co-penning Good Will Hunting with longtime friend and co-star Ben Affleck.
