TIM CURRY
April 19, 1946
Cheshire, England
Tim Curry is the son of Patricia, a school secretary, and James, a Methodist Royal Navy chaplain who died when Tim was only 12. After his father's death, Tim's mother had to go out to work, and his older sister was busy with other things, so Tim had to learn to cook breakfast for himself. Instead of being a chore though, this led to a love for cooking that has lasted a lifetime.
Theatre was heavy on the curriculum during his school days, yet when he was about 14, he tried to talk himself out becoming an actor, mostly because everybody else was trying to talk him out of it. This seems to have failed miserably though, because he later studied Drama and English at Cambridge and at Birmingham University, graduating with Combined Honours. Just after college, he appeared as Woof in London's West End production of Hair, which was his first professional role. He later worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Glasgow Civic Repertory Company, and the Royal Court, where he created the character of Frank N. Furter for The Rocky Horror Show.
A singer and composer, Tim sang in his father's choir when he was young. Later, he went on to tour America and Europe with his own band, and has released four albums with A&M.
