PIERCE BROSNAN
May 16, 1953
Drogheda, Ireland
Growing up in London, Pierce Brosnan made ends meet as a commercial illustrator and cab driver before turning to acting full-time. After training at the London Drama Centre, Brosnan made his West End stage debut in 1976, and appeared in his first film The Long Good Friday, four years later.
American audiences got their first glimpse of the charismatic actor in the 1981 miniseries The Manions of America, and the following year he was cast as the suave hero of the weekly TV series Remington Steele. After several professional setbacks, as well as the death of his wife, Cassandra Harris, Pierce was cast in the 1993 megahit Mrs. Doubtfire, which in turn aided in regaining his motion picture bankability, allowing him to make his long-awaited debut in the role of James Bond.
