KENNETH BRANAGH
December 10, 1960
Belfast, Northern Ireland
Kenneth's family moved to Reading when he was nine, and it was after seeing Derek Jacobi's performance of Hamlet, that he decided he wanted to be an actor himself.
At eighteen Branagh was offered a place at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Then straight out of drama school, Kenneth played the second lead in the West End production of "Another Country", a performance for which he won awards. At the age of twenty-three he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, and it was his title role in "Henry V" that secured his position as one of the hottest new talents of the British stage.
After parting company with the RSC in 1987, he and his actor friend, David Parfitt, launched a new company which was named the Renaissance Theatre Company. At twenty-nine, Kenneth published his autobiography "Beginning". His goal is to bring the collected works of Shakespeare to the screen.
